Brass Munkey Wins Heavyweight Belt! Chivas Kid Wins RGL Title! Yamaha Defends Tag Titles at BATTLECADE IX!
A Special Photo Extra! Carolina Sports Arena Burlington NC 12.20.08
The new Insiders-Tron Mark II™ came to life with the National Anthem and a video preview of events leading up to Battlecade IX. Commissioner Candidate Cornelius J. Lumpkin then entered the ring to make some announcements. Upon noticing reality TV star Jonny Fairplay in the front row, he lost his train of thought and began a war of words with the Survivor veteran, who was in attendance to watch his wife Michelle wrestle on the card later in the evening. Singles action was then introduced as manager Brad Stutts led out his entourage along with Matthew de Nero to do battle with the "Perfect Gentleman" Gregory Vercetti. De Nero started cautiously, often going to his manager for advice, but maintained an advantage in punishment dished out. When Vercetti turned the tables and began to change the tide of the match, de Nero went to the concrete for a word from Stutts. The coaching didn't have the desired effects as Vercetti pulled off a pinfall win after taking the majority of punishment in the bout. One half of the CWF Mid Atlantic Tag Champions, "Box Office Draw" Mikael Yamaha, entered the ring with both tag titles and a house mic and announced that he would be defending the titles alone during the evening's four-way tag title bout. His partner, Xsiris was not cleared to wrestle by his doctor after a concussion suffered at the hands of Ryan O'Reilly. The 2008 Rising Generation League Championship was up next as Brad Stutts led out 2007 RGL Champion "Jersey" Nick Richards along with his usual circus of suspect characters. The high-flying Chiva Kid then entered to the roar of the crowd and the final was underway. Richards began uncharacteristically vicious, going for blatent chokes and cheap shots, taking an advantage over the youngest wrestler in the Chivas familia in an effort to become the first-ever two-time RGL Champion. The title, which is only open to competitors with three years of ring experience or less, has always been a fan-favorite for it's high-flying competitors who go all out to win their first viable title in a major event. Richards maintained control for much of the bout, effectively grounding the goat-masked newcomer. Chiva Kid never backed down and kept getting back up from the attacks of the cheapshot king. Finally ascending the ropes, Kid flipped off of the turnbuckles only to find no one at home. However, when Richards went for the endgame move, Chiva Kid turned the tables by dropping the 2007 champion on his face and float over for the pinfall win. VIP "Simply" Steve Greene entered the arena in street clothes, irate over not having a match at Battlecade since Destiny's "Infamous Icon" Joey Silvia wasn't in the building. Destiny manager Ty Dillinger responded to the challenge of Greene confirming that Silvia would indeed be on hand on January 3rd at New Years Knockout to battle Greene. Ladies Guest Challenge action was up next as Amber O'Neal entered to an icy reception. "America's Next Top Model's Michelle entered, and the camera crew from the Fairplay's upcoming reality show went to work. O'Neal began intent on humiliating her opponent and was taking exception to the fans siding with the reality show star. O'Neal had to be surprised after torturing Michelle in front of her husband that she could battle back on the canvas to a position to hit her with a clothesline, a face-drop to the canvas and a leg drop and then force a submission out of the ring veteran. Last Man Standing action was up next as Destiny's Lee Valiant entered to battle VIP Jesse "El Fuego" Ortega with his title shot from winning the CWF Rumble on the line. Brutality followed the bell, followed by more brutality as the two bitter rivals began taking their business personally. The battle raged onward for over twenty minutes before the brawl spilled onto the floor and a steel chair was introduced by Ortega. Valiant took the war back into the ring and caught the VIP with a reversal sending him to the canvas hard. Valiant, already lacerated from the brawl on the floor, hoisted up Ortega after he beat out the referee's ten count and slammed him to the canvas. Ortega was unable to respond by the referee's ten count and the bell was rang. Valiant, near exhaustion, celebrated in the ring and stood for an acknowledgement by Ortega when he did finally recover his senses. Ortega, one of the most fierce competitors in local history, acknowledged his loss with a fist bump to Valiant before exiting the arena. Following the preview of the brand-new Images of 2008 music video, the highly-anticipated Four Way Tag Team Title match began introductions. Fatback Enterprises "Dangerous E" Corey Edsel & Donnie Dollar$ were escorted to the ring by Stutts and his entourage, followed by Aftermath's William L. Cross & Ryan O'Reilly. Cross took the house mic and shoved a hand-written note to the announcer to read, introducing the newest member of the Aftermath, TV Champion Marcellus "Mid Atlantic" King. Rob "Boogie Woogie Man" McBride & Roy "Rage" Wilkins were out next, followed by "Box Office Draw" Mikael Yamaha carrying both of the Tag Title straps alone. Yamaha and McBride began the bout, followed by Wilkins as Stutts instructed his team to "stay out of it" in the early stages. Aftermath didn't follow that course of action, electing to have one member or another legal for most of the match and Yamaha found himself being taken for granted on the ring apron. When he was able to tag in, both Aftermath and Fatback would pounce on him like wounded prey. Yamaha fought a smart fight, with a little indirect help from McBride & Wilkins. However, upon finding himself heing held up by Edsel for an O'Reilly boot, Yamaha was able to slip out of the grasp and cause the kick to instead impact with the face of Edsel. The O'Reilly-Edsel brawl spilled onto the floor, around the television set and finally out of the arena into the parking lot as the match continued in the ring. After escaping the grasp of Donnie Dollar$, Yamaha was able to surprise Marcellus King with a kick to the mouth as he entered to finish off the match. Yamaha floated over for the pin and with everyone else involved with the brawl around the ring, no one attempted to break it up. Yamaha did the impossible, leaving the arena as the rightful holder of one of the two CWF Mid Atlantic Tag Team Title straps with a very opportunistic win. Events leading up to the main event were shown with words from both competitors on the big-screen before the competitors entered the ring to do battle for the CWF Mid Atlantic Heavyweight Title. Champion "the 1st" Ric Converse entered with manager and suspended commissioner William L. Cross, awaiting the arrival of the challenger, the winner of the 2008 Johnny Weaver Memorial Tournament, Brass Munkey. The fan-favorite challenger began fast, taking the champion to the task on the canvas, tying him up with mat wrestling moves. Converse directed the battle to the concrete floor and turned the tide of the battle. The champion drug the challenger back into the ring and began to lean on him and try to break him down. Converse twisted and stretched the challenger, even allowing manager Cross to get a few cheap shots in from the floor behind the official's back before Munkey was able to try to turn the battle back into his favor with some fast pinfall attempts. Going for his devastating lariat, Munkey tore the head off of referee Redd Jones after Converse ducked the blow. Converse grabbed up Munkey as he checked on the condition of the referee and nailed him with his Ric-Tor Scale finisher. The champion floated over for the cover before realizing the official was out cold, but remained in the pinning position as referee Charles Richardson slid into the ring. Referee Richardson only made the two count as Munkey kicked out, causing the already irate Converse to turn on referee Richardson and punch him in the face, calling out partner Ryan O'Reilly to the ring. Roy "Rage" Wilkins follows the big Aftermath monster to the ring, tripping him up as he slid into the ring, causing the big man to turn and chase Wilkins out of the arena. Referee Troxler makes his way to the ring, but only to check on the condition of Richardson. Converse hoisted up Munkey for another Ric-Tor Scale, but somehow the challenger slipped out of his grasp and nailed him with a deadly lariat, sending him to the canvas. Brass Munkey made the cover and referee Jones slid into position and made the three count. Brass Munkey was awarded the CWF Mid Atlantic Heavyweight Title strap and had his hand raised in victory as the dressing room emptied and the celebration began for the new champion inside of the squared circle. CWF Mid Atlantic returns to action on Saturday January 3rd 2009 at Burlington NC's Carolina Sports Arena for New Years Knockout!

CWF's Road To Battlecade IX Paved With Blood!
A Special Photo Extra! Carolina Sports Arena Burlington NC 12.06.08
The semi-finals of the 2008 Rising Generation League Tournament began with the first bout of the evening, current RGL Champion "Jersey" Nick Richards facing off against red-hot youngster Chase Dakota for the right to advance to the final at Battlecade IX. Richards started off strong but was soon on the recieving end of the punishment as Dakota began to take control. Never ones to be happy with a teammate in trouble, Fatback Enterprises' Donnie Dollar$ took advantage of Dakota being tossed to the concrete to add more injury along with an insult. Dakota climbed back into the ring and went vertical before Richards surprised him on the ropes and dropped him to the canvas, allowing the pinfall to advance to Battlecade IX. The VIPs Jesse "El Fuego" Ortega entered with the house mic and called out rival Lee Valiant. Valiant entered and listened as Ortega went on about the fans and their loyalty, all lessons learned from his partner the Gemini Kid. Valiant refused to be swayed, defending the fans before Ortega challenged him to put up his guaranteed title shot from winning the Rumble against him in their "third and final" match, a Last Man Standing battle. Valiant accepted the terms of the challenge and agreed to sign the contracts to face Ortega at Battlecade IX. Big Ray Kandrack was out next to do battle with the masked Chiva Kid for the right to go to Battlecade IX to fight in the final. The big man took quick advantage in the bout, pounding on the smaller masked man and inflicting as much punishment as possible. The Kid refused to quit, taking the beating and coming back for more. When the Chiva Kid changed up his stradegy and took to the air, his fortunes began to turn. Nailing the big man with dropkicks and splashes from the top ropes, the Kid took control with his high-impact aerial attack and the fans behind him. Chiva Kid advances to face "Jersey" Nick Richards at Battlecade IX courtesy of his pinfall win over Kandrack. VIP "Simply" Steve Greene was up next for singles action against another high-flying youngster, Matt Smith. The youngster started fast and strong, arm-dragging the veteran Greene all over the ring. The alarm clock in Greene's head must have went off as he went straight to the point with young Smith, smacking the taste out of his mouth from a knee on the canvas. Greene then took complete control and took a pinfall win over the rookie at the three and a half minute mark. Mid Atlantic Tag Team Champions Xsiris & "Box Office Draw" Mikael Yamaha were out next, announcing that they will make history at Battlecade IX by defending the titles against not just one, but three teams at once. Aftermath's William L. Cross & Ryan O'Reilly entered the arena and the fever pitch rose as the friction between the two intensified to a point of Xsiris stating that he "really, really doesn't like" big O'Reilly and a challenge for a singles bout was issued and accepted. Yamaha, figuring that he wanted to wrestle for the fans too, offered up a challenge to manager Cross who refused at first but suddenly agreed on the terms that the match be No DQ rules. Yamaha accepted and Cross climbed into the ring as Xsiris exited. Then, however, the "acting Commissioner" stepped in and ordered both O'Reilly and Xsiris from the ring area before he'd allow the match to begin. The bell finally rang and Yamaha happily backed the suspended Commissioner into the corner for some good clean fun. However, with his back turned, Yamaha was totally shocked by the appearance in-ring of Aftermath's "the 1st" Ric Converse with a steel chair. Converse hoisted up the tag champion and dropped him to the canvas, allowing Cross to get a three count at the forty-one second mark of the No DQ rules match. Tag team action was up next, with the winners joining the teams of Rob "Boogie Woogie Man" McBride & Roy "Rage" Wilkins and Aftermath in the four-way Tag Title Match upcoming at Battlecade IX. Manager Bobby O'Neill entered with his team of the "Untouchable" Evan Banks & Michael McAllister to face off against the Fatback Enterprises team of "Dangerous E" Corey Edsel & Donnie Dollar$, but the match didn't start for yet another few minutes as referee Redd Jones was told to check manager O'Neill by the Fatback entourage. The search of O'Neill produced an "international object", a chain and brass knuckles, prompting O'Neill to turn the tables and demand manager Brad Stutts be searched as well. After producing several items including a chain, a silver platter, an antenna and a hunting knife from the pockets of Stutts, the bell was finally rang. Edsel did his usual imitation of an immovable object, sending his opponents crashing to the canvas like toys and Dollar$ entered to turn up the violence another notch. The Banks-McAllister team found themselves in reverse for the opening moments of the bout before finally taking matters into their own hands by doubling up on big Donnie Dollar$ and sending him crashing to the canvas. Dollar$ had the presence of mind to make his way back to his corner for a tag and the monster Edsel entered to mop up. After dropping both competitors Edsel put the exclamation point on the sentence with a flat-footed boot to the mouth of the unsuspecting McAllister, who dropped like a rock. Fatback Enterprises rounds out the four-way at Battlecade IX to fight for the CWF Mid Atlantic Tag Titles with this important victory. Aftermath's Ryan O'Reilly was out next with William L. Cross to do singles battle with one-half of the tag team champions, Xsiris. X started the match grappling and keeping the big man off balance with ground-based wrestling, totally unlike his usual matches. O'Reilly withstood the mat wrestling and finally powered up his opponent and dropped him to the canvas. Putting the boots to the tag champion, O'Reilly began to methodically disassemble Xsiris inside of the squared circle. Twice the ring official warned the big man off as he waited for word from Xsiris that he could continue. The third time, following a vicious flap-jack to the canvas, Xsiris lie unmoving on the canvas and unresponsive to the referee. Calling for the bell, O'Reilly was awarded the bout, but wasn't finished with the fight. Dragging Xsiris to the back edge of the ring, O'Reilly crushed his head with a steel chair before leaving the arena laughing. Xsiris remained in the ring unmoving for several minutes before referee Redd Jones asked for help from the ringside crew. X never moved, even after his tag team partner Yamaha joined the officials, trying to determine the safest way to remove him from the ring. After several more minutes, the tag champion was gently moved to the ring apron with his head stabalized. Finally coming around, Xsiris struggled to sit up, holding his head and complaining of pain in his neck. X was helped from the ring area after an unscheduled intermission before the official was announced for the main event TV title bout. "Handsome" Mitch Connor was unable to arrive in time to wrestle due to transportation problems, and was replaced in the main event by the high-flying veteran Lumbee Warrior. The TV Champion entered with all of his straps, taking the house mic to introduce himself before the match finally got underway. The traditional ten minute bout began with Lumbee chasing the champion to the floor, helping him back into the ring the hard way. King battled back in his own vicious power style, taking the fight to the game veteran. Lumbee Warrior kept fighting back, sending the champion to his knees in a back and forth display of power between two men who have never faced each other across the ring before. As the time limit began to expire, King tied up Lumbee in the "Tree of Woe" in the corner turnbuckles and stood up on the rpoes to celebrate with the fans. With both men attempting and failing to get pinfalls in the final seconds, the time limit expired with King retaining the title by rule. Commissioner candidate Cornelius J. Lumpkin was out next, directing a table to be set up for the main event contract signing for Battlecade IX. Calling out both competitors, Brass Munkey hit the ring with the Weaver Cup Trophy and Converse entered with the Mid Atlantic Title belt and manager William L. Cross. After presenting the documents to both parties, Lumpkin asked for Munkey's signatures, which were supplied immediately. Converse took the opportunity to ridicule his opponent and point out that in his entire career with CWF that he'd never received a heavyweight title shot. Munkey took the mic as the champion bent to sign the papers, and refuted several of the champion's points, angering him into ripping off his jacket before going toe-to-toe with the challenger. Converse slid to the floor as the fans began screaming for his upcoming opponent and Munkey took the opportunity to grab Cross as Lumpkin removed the signed documents from the ring. Cross found himself being dropped through the table used for the contract signing, with wood flying everywhere in the ring. Munkey got into the face of the suspended Commissioner and went off as Converse slipped back into the ring. Grabbing the only thing available, Converse pounded the head of Munkey with the Weaver Cup trophy, sending the challenger to the floor and the trophy to pieces all over the ring. Converse continued to beat on his upcoming challenger, taking pieces of the trophy and ripping away at the bloodied face of Munkey. After thrashing Munkey with the remnants of the broken table, Converse gathered up his manager and left the arena. Stevens Named Commish! Destiny Reforms! Attitude Returns! Change embraces CWF at CWF New Years Knockout!
A Special Photo Extra! Carolina Sports Arena Burlington NC 01.03.09
Following the introduction video and national anthem, tag team action flooded into the ring as manager Bobby O'Neill presented the Syndicate ("Untouchable" Evan Banks & Michael McAllister to do battle against young Chase Dakota & Arik Royal. The youngsters started strong, with the exuberance of Dakota causing him to get stranded away from his corner for much of the bout. The Syndicate worked over the youngster as his partner fumed from the apron. Making the save on a pinning predicament, Royal finally got into the bout and found himself face-to-face with manager O'Neill as his partner was getting mauled behind his back and the back of the ring official. Aftermath's "the 1st" Ric Converse & William L. Cross made their way to the ring and the former five-time heavyweight champion began to consider his own future on the house mic. Mentioning that he's got pinfall wins over "everybody in both dressing rooms", an angry Alex Adonis hit the ring. Adonis threw down the gauntlet for a match with Converse but was only met by the addition of Aftermath's Ryan O'Reilly & Marcellus "Mid Atlantic" King to the ring area. Attacking Adonis, the Aftermath left him lying on the canvas as a lesson in the school of hard knocks. Mixed tag action was up next as the team of Christi Whiplash & Derek Ryze hit the ring to do battle against the team of Sara Del Ray & Maverick in mixed tag action. The ladies began the match, with Whiplash starting strong. Del Ray retaliated and took control of the bout before tagging in her partner Maverick. The tall wrestler stepped through the ropes but Whiplash never budged toward her corner, instead standing defiantly. Maverick appeared unsure of how to attack a lady competitor and eventually found himself being dive-bombed from the top ropes by Derek Ryze. Despite the offensive late in the bout, Del Ray & Maverick took the duke by pinfall. Former world and Mid Atlantic tag champions VIPs "King of Heat" Gemini Kid & Jesse "El Fuego" Ortega entered the ring to complain about the lack of competition in the entire area, suggesting they should go elsewhere to find competition. A trio of promising young wrestlers, Chase Dakota, Matt Smith & Arik Royal hit the ring to answer their remarks with a challenge not to look them over for competition. The popular Team Maction ("Krazy K" Kirby Mack & T.J. Mack) were out next to square off against Swiss Money Holding's Claudio Castognoli & Are$ in tag team action. The powerful Swiss team started fast on the smaller Mack brothers, trying to gain an advantage early. The Macks retaliated with some high-risk double teams which turned the tide into the popular brothers direction. Kirby & T.J. used timing and a gameplan to defeat the larger Swiss team by pinfall to the cheers of the fans. A video greeting from the new CWF Mid Atlantic Heavyweight Champion Brass Munkey aired as the InsidersTron™ came to life. Munkey apologized for not being at New Years Knockout and explained that for the first time in years that he was "going home" to visit. The CWF Mid Atlantic Television Title was on the line next as champion Aftermath's Marcellus "Mid Atlantic" King was escorted to the ring by suspended Commissioner William L. Cross. Destiny's Lee Valiant entered with manager Ty Dillinger, who left the arena during ring introductions. The bell rang and Valiant found himself in the crosshairs of the sights of the champion. Instead of retreating, Valiant instead attacked by grapevining onto the champion and tying him up. King had no answer for the uncharacteristic attack of Valiant and began to lose his concentration on the task at hand. After finding himself sitting on the turnbuckle with Valiant ascending the ropes, King lie looking at the ring lights after a beautiful flip to the canvas. Instead of fighting back, King slid to the floor and along with Cross retreated with the title belt as the referee administered the ten count. Eight man tag action was introduced following intermission as Brad Stutts led his team of "Dangerous E" Corey Edsel, Donnie Dollar$, Matthew de Nero & "Jersey" Nick Richards into the arena to do battle against the fan-favorites Rob "Boogie Woogie Man" McBride, Roy "Rage" Wilkins, "Perfect Gentleman" Gregory Vercetti & Chiva Kid. In a highly entertaining and hard-hitting bout, all eight men took turns dishing out punishment and receiving it in return. After the fifteen minute mark of the bout, hostilities escalated and individual battles began in the ring and on the concrete floor around the ring. The ring official, unsure as to the legality of competitors finally focused on the only two men remaining in the squared circle and counted the pinfall when "Jersey" Nick Richards got a measure of revenge on current RGL Champion Chiva Kid with the duke. Former CWF Star Brad Attitude entered the ring and made the comments that he had an official announcement to make. Aftermath's William L. Cross stomped to the ring with Converse, O'Reilly & King and Converse confronted his former partner. After a few tense moments, the Aftermath began moving to circle the ring before Xsiris & "Box Office Draw" Mikael Yamaha ran to the ring and as the brand new CWF Commissioner chose that time to make his appearance. "Madd Trucker" Garry Stevens and Little Billy hit the arena and announced that he had been unanimously chosen by the Board of Directors and had agreed to come out of retirement to take the job with a few stipulations of his own. The main one being he has total control, to which the Board agreed. Cross, irate over being removed from the office of Commissioner, began throwing down challenges as the new Commissioner ordered him to put together a tag team to compete in the ring right then. Stevens called for a referee and then the bell as he ordered Aftermath to face Mid Atlantic Tag Champions Xsiris & Yamaha in non-title grudge match with Brad Attitude working the floor as Special Guest Enforcer Referee. Cross responded with the team of Converse & King and the bout was underway. Anger took control and the Aftermath appeared ready to injure both of their opponents before Yamaha took control with a couple of well-placed boots to the mouth of Converse, who in anger KO'd referee Charles Richardson. O'Reilly re-appeared and got involved in taking out Xsiris as King went to the face of Yamaha with is TV Title belt. Attitude checked on the condition of the referee and then climbed into the ring to assume control of the match. Converse took exception and dropped his former friend face-first to the canvas. Rolling over to one of the fallen tag champions, the Aftermath stole a non-title win over the champions. The Aftermath didn't cease hostilities after the final bell, resulting in Alex Adonis making his way to the ring to help even the odds for the champions. Aftermath left the building with the champions breathless in the ring and an angry Adonis demanding an answer. After a year of bitter battles, VIP "Simply" Steve Greene entered the arena for a No DQ battle against former partner Destiny's "Infamous Icon" Joey Silvia. The blood feud came to a head after the introduction of a 20 lb. steel chain and then a large baking pan. Silvia flew over the head of the downed Greene onto the concrete floor, arising with a mouth full of blood. Upon returning to the ring, Silvia rung his former friend's bell with a couple of swipes of the metal baking pan, wrapping around the face of Greene. The "Infamous Icon" then ascended the ropes and dropped a textbook elbow onto the pan across Greene's chest. After another journey to the floor where the front rows were evacuated and steel chairs brought into play, Silvia seemed the worst for the wear. Returning to the ring, Silvia attempted to end the battle but was counteracted by Greene who planted him into the canvas. Seeing his opponent lying motionless face down in the ring, Greene went to the floor and pulled a huge sledgehammer out from under the ring. Climbing back into the ring, he hefted the hammer toward the head of the defensless former champion, but stopped inches short of hitting him. After a second swing, he dropped the hammer and belittled his former friend for not being able to compete. Silvia grabbed Greene from behind and out of the blue rolled him up for the pin. Lee Valiant joined his team in the ring as Silvia demanded that Greene shake his hand like a man. Reluctantly, Greene accepted the hand of his former friend and Dillinger opened the door for a reunion, to which all members mutually agreed upon. "The people have gotten what they asked for," stated Dillinger, "the return of the original Destiny". CWF Mid Atlantic returns to action at Burlington NC's Carolina Sports Arena on Saturday January 17th at 7:30 pm for another big TV Taping! Commissioner Garry Stevens has already announced that there will be a title rematch between Lee Valiant and TV Champ Marcellus King with a no-countout stipulation and an extended fifteen minute time limit. There will also be six man action pitting Aftermath against Tag Champions Xsiris & Yamaha with Alex Adonis!

To say that "we do it because of you" would be an understatement. It's much more than that. Our fans are a special breed, a very informed group of folks that know that the best talent in the country always ends up coming through the Mid Atlantic area at some point in their careers. They know what they like, who they like and who they like to dislike. (They also seem to know that at least once an event, I'm going to make some kind of error or another, usually in getting the correct entrance music or video to air in a timely manner. And as always, thank you for your patience with my lapses.) I would like to take this opportunity to invite all of our fans to return in 2009, so you'll have to do your part and take special care during this holiday season. Watch out for the other guy on the roads, especially at night or in bad weather, and we'll see you next year at the shows! Have a Merry Christmas and a safe and prosperous New Year! :::Steps off of Soapbox:::
