Riders In The Country

Greensboro NC

02.17.08

A rowdy crowd of wrestling fans converged on Greensboro NC's Riders In The Country for the debut of the "2008 season" of Riders Championship Wrestling. The event dubbed My Bloody Valen-Hustle advertised a first-ever Hustle-style Rumble with the RCW Heavyweight Title up for grabs. The locker room filled with competitors from all over the area and a full card of fun hit the ring. "Jersey" Nick Richards entered the ring with #1 Ace Cowboy and began to flip his lip off about everything under the sun, only to be interrupted by the Mini-Bull. After making a few off-color remarks about his own father Rob "Boogie Woogie Man" McBride, there were soon four individuals in the ring.

Richards & Ace left the ring and the bell rang for an impromptu bout between father and son. After several minutes of give and take wrestling, Mini-Bull turned up the burners and escaped with a very impressive upset win over the Boogie Woogie Man.

The New Age Freebirds (Johnny "Jam" Lightning & Matt Houston) hit the ring next for tag team action against fan-favorites "the 1st" Ric Converse & Brass Munkey. A wildly entertaining bout broke out, with Converse handling the business in the ring over the veteran tag team as Munkey lounged on the apron taking a smoke break. The veteran team held its own, giving the fan favorites a difficult time the entire night, even with multiple tags throughout. Converse & Munkey continued to battle and eventually took a pinfall win over the irate New Age Freebirds.

"Jersey" Nick Richards was up next for singles action against Grease, a Rider's veteran of many years. Richards was able to control much of the bout, except for a drop-kick he brushed aside with his face, and held his own for a pinfall win.

Former RCW Champion "Dangerous E" Corey Edsel hit the ring next with his injured manager Brad Stutts at ringside. Fan-favorite Charlie Dreamer answered the bell and went to war with his larger opponent to the delight of the fans. Edsel fought a ground battle for the most part but was eventually worn down somewhat and caught by surprise by a Dreamer cross-body block from the ropes. Shaking him off, Edsel went to the top ropes, flying toward the retreatning Dreamer who was able to get a solid pinfall win over the veteran competitor and his stunned manager.

"General" Michael McAllister was out next with RCW newcomers the Montgomery County Militia (Hot Foot & Spider) for a six-man tilt against Las Chivas Numero Uno, Numero Dos y Chivas Kid w/Rock 92's Goatboy & Chico the Dancing Goat). The circus-like atmosphere was too much for Las Chivas Numero Dos, who uncharacteristically fainted in the ring. After reviving the Mexican superstar, a wild six-man brawl broke out. The day shift from the Pump N' Munch took every short-cut in the book but grimaced beneath their masks as McAllister had his chest hair ripped out by the handfuls by the playful Chivas, who eventually took the victory with a pinfall.

With the brand-new RCW Heavyweight Title strap and the added bonus of a guaranteed shot at the CWF Mid Atlantic Heavyweight Championship on the line, competitors lined up for a one-night shot to reach for the stars. Big Alex Adonis was the first man introduced, followed by the return of the seven-foot Granite, who returned to Riders with an attitude. "Jersey" Nick Richards took the honors for the first man to be eliminated, followed by the "Limp Wristed Luchador" Paco Loco and then television commercial actor Wolf Davidsson. Michael McAllister, Mini Bull, Hot Foot, "Hustle King" Kingfish & Spider were then eliminated as the final entrants were making their way to the ring. "Heart Throb" Alan Rage was tossed to the floor next, followed by "The Pro" Tony-T, Kid Chivas, #1 Ace Cowboy, Brass Munkey, "Wild Thang" Larry Isley & Grease. Granite continued well into the rumble, along with Adonis, veteran Les Parker, Scrap Yard Dog, Corey Edsel, Ric Converse, Rob McBride & the Rider's Gigolo. The crowd roared as Converse & McBride brawled for a few moments (a first), and finally as the final two ended up as the seven-foot monster against the veteran McBride.

Granite pounded away on McBride on the ropes and made his way across the ring to plant a boot in the face of his opponent. McBride ducked out of the way, leaving Granite straddling the ropes, to which the Boogie Woogie Man took advantage of immediately. Bouncing the big man off of the top rope and onto the floor, McBride became the new RCW Champion. One of the dressing rooms emptied, barring the door on their way to the ring and attacked the new champion en force. After a few moments of violence, the employees and security staff of Riders hit the ring, clearing it for the bloodied and battered new champion. McBride got to his feet, acknowledged all of his friends and co-workers that saved him and promised the fans he'd be a fighting champion as the locked out dressing room finally arrives.
